Nanny: Oh, there I am on the far left. And this is when we lived in, um, this is in Bradley Beach, New Jersey. My mother and father had gotten divorced and we moved in with my grandparents and, um, and there I was on the left there and those were the kids next door. They were Mark and Martin. I remember Mark and Martin.
Dena: Oh my gosh.
Nanny: And they were just, they were, you know, I used to go and beat up on them all the time because I was such a tomboy. And that’s the little sister.
Bill: Yeah. Now I remember we went to this house when we visited.
Nanny: Yeah.
Bill: And I remember staying on that porch and I remember if you walk that way in the picture, that was the beach in that direction. Right.
Nanny: Exactly. To the right straight down was the beach.
Bill: You remember that? Dena?,
Dena: I’m looking at that house and I definitely remember that, that facade, that porch. And I’m looking at their clothes. It’s like, like their mom made their clothes
Nanny: That did and she did. And I think we….go ahead. I’m sorry,
Dena: When I look at you Mom. I see Daisy.
Bill: Yeah. Oh, no doubt. Wait till you see some of these pictures, like spitting images. Like even when she’s in her twenties, in her teens, like spitting images. And I remember, I remember this house. I remember that was where the cellar was, the basement was, you know, all that cool stuff down there, and then his bedroom was right there and there was the stairway around the corner and the big radiator in the room. And I remember the backyard. I remember everything. I, I just seems like it’s a very vivid memory of that house.
Nanny: And there was a bungalow back there in a garage and they had an outdoor shower. So we went to the beach. You could go shower in the back.
Dena: Bill, do you have that memory from when we went to spread Jessie’s ashes or from?
Bill: No. No. Yeah. Yeah, we did, that house wasn’t in the picture. It was gone. Um, by then the only time we ever saw that house was when we visited Harold, and it was the last time we saw him because, oh, no, he might have come down after that. But he was super sick.
Nanny: That was my grandfather. Yeah
Dena: Wow. I don’t remember that. I don’t remember going to New Jersey.
Bill: I think it was one of the first times, it might have been the first time we ever flew in an airplane. We flew up there. I think it was, I think it was before we went to Colorado even.
Nanny: Yeah. Yeah.
Dena: I definitely remember that trip. I remember us like staying. We were sharing a bedroom or something, but I thought we were staying, well, we were staying in Great grandpa Harry and Myrtle’s house.
Nanny: Because my grandpa Poppy was dying and we were there and that’s when I got a call from your father and I found out he was in Europe and I went crazy. I said, “You are where?”. I went off on him and he went with Jimmy Dean. He took off when I went up there with you kids to see my grandfather. Yeah. That’s a good picture. Lots of memories.
